However, this place is not the one that would be associated with ghosts; it holds some reputations since it was the place of the notorious Borley Rectory, so it is said the “Most Haunted House In England”. Most people report that they had been seen the walk of a sorrowful nun ghost. An old tale claimed that the nun had a love with a monk and the two tried to escape, but they were traced down quickly. The nun was bricked up in the basement of monastic buildings and the monk was killed.

This former prison in Pennsylvania is the first prison that is described as the most haunted place in the world.  In this prison, the prisoners were propelled to solitary as a form of treatment. During that time, they happened to be completely isolated, exercising alone, eating alone, and living alone. Because of the harsh approach, many inmates were drove to madness. As a result, this system was scrapped and this prison was used as a usual prison. Since 1940, there have been several reports about the paranormal activities have risen. In 1857 Thomas Whaley build this house on the land that was once used as a cemetery. Most people believe that this house is crammed with ghosts.

Yankee Jim Robinson was hanged publicly in this spot in 1852 for his attempt in grand larceny. Violet Whaley suicide in 1885 and deaths of other Whaley family members made this place more noticeable. Visitors of this house were sacred and reported that they encounter the spirits of Jim Robinson and Whaley family members.

“Over the years, while dining across the street at the Old Town Mexican Cafe, I became accustomed to noticing that the shutters of the second-story windows [of the Whaley House] would sometimes open while we ate dinner, long after the house was closed for the day. On a recent visit, I could feel the energy in several spots in the house, particularly in the courtroom, where I also smelled the faint scent of a cigar, supposedly Whaley’s calling-card. In the hallway, I smelled perfume, initially attributing that to the young woman acting as docent, but some later surreptitious sniffing in her direction as I talked to her about the house revealed her to be scent-free.”
