10 Most Dangerous Dog

Lets get one thing clear first. We keep getting comments like this article is “biased”, “wrong”, “not well researched” and even “stupid”. As a German Shepherd owner  myself, I can totally understand that you guys want to defend and say these dogs are not dangerous at all. But the facts are facts.

According to this family the tigers are not dangerous at all. They even let their baby play with them. Does this mean all tigers are safe and everyone can get one in their home? It all comes down to the owner (trainer). A trainer can make even ‘Yorkies’ aggressive and can make ‘Pitbulls’ soft. Just because your dog is cute and calm, it doesn’t mean that all the other dogs in that breed will be same.
In US, every year nearly 670 hospitalizations and 21,000 medical visits are made just to treat the dog bites. Also every year around 187,000 people are treated for dog bites non medically. For every 75 seconds, minimum of 1 US citizen is bitten by a dog.
If all dogs are not dangerous, there wouldn’t be this much of accidents. I am not saying don’t buy these breeds at all. I am just saying be little bit more careful around these dog breeds and give some extra training. Better be safe than sorry.
So please, no more comments like “this list is biased”. If you have trained your dog well, good for you. Others may not have time or luxury to do the same. They deserve to know which types of dogs cause more accidents so if they decide to buy that breed they will be little bit more careful and be able to avoid accidents.

Some dog breeds have more potential to cause injuries to a victim than the other and we call them dangerous. Based on the number of accidents by a particular dog breed in US and Canada, we have come up with the list of top 10 most dangerous dog breeds.

According to the research conducted by the Animal people in US and Canada, during the period September 1882 to December 31, 2012, Pitbulls and Rottweilers have topped the list by causing more number of dog fatalities and injuries.

No 1 : Pitbulls

For anyone who is familiar with all the dog breeds, seeing the Pitbull in the number one position of “top 10 most dangerous dogs” will not be a big surprise. When compared to all other dogs, death rate caused by the Pitpulls are far more higher. Due to its aggressive nature, few state governments have banned the breeding of Pitpulls.

It weighs around 55 to 65 lbs.

Rottweilers occupy the No 2 position in the “top 10 most dangerous list”. As an extremely territorial animal, these can guard your home really well. Most of the owners of Rottweilers find them bit soft. But they can get aggressive if they are not trained well.

German Shepherd is a very intelligent and powerful animal which makes them more dangerous too. That’s why it raised to 4th position in top ten most dangerous dogs list. These dogs can serve you loyal but when it is not treated well, it can be dangerous too.

Great Danes are such unique dog breeds capturing the attention of public wherever it goes. These dogs weigh around 200 pounds. You can imagine how much fear it can pose on the opponent with its huge body. Even if you are a dog person, sudden appearance of  this dog can startle you. It should be trained with the adequate level of exercises. When you don’t give the attention it requires, it will start to rebel. Long walks are necessary for this breed.
